Rita Vásquez is the sub-director of the newspaper La Prensa. At the beginning of her career, she started off in corporate law, moved on to specialize in offshore incorporations and international client services. After a decade in the legal world, she transitioned to journalism, where she oversaw the production of Panama's most influential newspaper on a daily basis.

In 2016, Rita was elected president of the National Journalism Council, an organization founded to protect the right to freedom of expression and information in Panama. Rita was also the leader of La Prensa’s team that was part of the global investigation that became known as “The Panama Papers.” She has published three books; the first one named “La historia detrás de los Panama Papers”. Rita is a Fellow of the 12th class of the Central America Leadership Initiative and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
